Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the
sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the
earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them. And God
blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the
earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the
birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” (Genesis 1:26-28)
Our Heavenly Father is not like a lot of our earthly fathers.
We all know [or know of] men/fathers who became so exasperated with their children that they took away an assignment or responsibility--usually in a big huff. I even know a man who was so frustrated with his wife's way of folding towels that he took that job away from her and did it himself.
Now, our Heavenly Father desires that we be enabled and equipped to do what He has called us to do. So He patiently takes us "around the mountain again." ...until we learn to do it right--to do it His way.GOD HAS NO PLAN B! When man sinned, the sin problem had to be dealt with. That's why Jesus came. But it did not mean that our assignment to "Have dominion" got scrubbed. The Church has been allowed to believe that, once we are saved, we're just waiting to go to heaven. And we don't understand why the world is "going to hell in a handbasket."
